Home is where you put your hat (or not).
For the longest while, I had an apartment in the bay area and a farm in Indiana, and I clocked enough time in Marriott's that in the NJ/PA area I was the #5 on spend.
I stayed enough I am lifetime Titanium and as long as Marriott is around, I will have top status.
There were times I literally spent more time in Admiral's Clubs while traveling in a week then at home. So what is home?
The bartenders and AAngels (think like Up-in-the-Air) knew my drink and had it ready for me when I rolled up. I was on an IAH-SJC leg so much the staff and I would pull pranks on each other, and of course I would bring cakes (cookie and real) for their birthday's and anniversaries.
What is home? Any of those things. One joke I would play would be to swap out the inflight magazines from Continental and put American Airlines ones in.
Oh the raised fist I would get. One three piece patent lawyer from NYC looked at me in my casual affair after the prank and gave me a look. The FA looked at him and said no breakfast for him. He smiled, when she didn't ... but then she brought out a homemade omellete she made for me and served me.
I winked and stated, the air wife knows me well.
Life is too short and too long for permanent edicts on life. I mean I have family members still who think I am a Republican but I am not. I mean think of this to warp your brain. I was a liberal republican. (boom)
But talk to me earlier in life and I was Michael J Fox from the 80s show ... we adapt, we grow, we learn, we empathize, and we move forward.
One doesn't have to and as long as a person has a good heart and soul and intent, good for them. This person also fits the mold of being born, living, and dying within a 25 mile radius for life.
As for me, I am 1300 miles plus at the moment from where I was born. Who knows where I will be. I could get divorced, go full nomad again, and bounce city-to-city and be happy.
Then knock on the door and say "Vanessa" can I have a cup of sugar? :)
