I am all for education, and funding for books with a respectful message with LBGTQIA+ and all of that to help educate and make kids feel safe and secure.
I also want them to understand about bias and stereotyping, but you are absolutely correct (agree with you). A shit show of non-CRT things were added.
My poor person's attempt to talk to this would be:
I want to talk about slavery in the United States, which will include the Irish, Italian, Spanish, Asian and Black history of it.
I want to show and share some of the sad stories, e.g. take ones that are little known like the 1930 Sherman Riot and there was also another one in Texas that an entire town was wiped clean (Slocum)
We can talk to redlining and gerrymandering and even we could cover the plights of rural versus urban centers and their differences and similarities (e.g. how a poor white rural person while exactly identical has one edge)
But if you have anyone consuming Fox news ... good luck.
As a reference, I read Dallas Morning News, WSJ, Herald Democrat, and a local paper, along with other monthly mags (Atlantic e.g.).
But I am educated ... when I visit family it is common for me to take my kindle in with the newpapers so I can drown out the faux news ...
