I have traveled a bunch in my life so far, and decided to set roots in Texas. I found a fun book at a local Walgreens (I have been a e-reader kind of guy since 2008), Texas Obscurities and it had historical stories of Texas, and it is a fun read.

It is pretty amazing what one can learn when they open their mind to the past.
