I live in a very red and rural and republican area. I used to be a GOP person, but I was a liberal Republican (I know it would shock quite a few people).

I lost track of the number of times I had to educate and work and try to help people and then I realized most times I am bringing a logical knife to an illogical gun fight.

I have met these folks, and I have always started the preface on a rant with.

I have a horse farm and we have dealt with highly infectious disease (rabies, staph equi equi [bacterial equivalent of SARS]) etc, I have allergic asthma and spend $30K a year on immunotherapy so I can be active with my horse farm, I have actually had SARS (2003), I am science driven / based. I am not a doctor or a person in medicine but I talk to my GP and cardio/sleep doctor.

By the time I am done, I am tired ... so in the end one has to side step the stupid and let Darwin take it's course. They listened only because at the time I was a GOP person, that was it ...

An educated populace is the most important thing to protect the "republic" of our country, and lets say intelligence is a constant at best and degrading based upon the amount of social media consumed.

Take this and then take the gender based assumption when it comes to getting things fixed on my farm and it can get very very tiring.

(e.g.)

I have to tell the guys that come in to repair things, don't look at me. If it is electronics, tech, computers, phones I am god. If it is mechanical, my wife is "god" so talk to her she knows a helluva a lot more then me.

Then I have to preface it with ... she got the gift of mechnical fixing and knowledge from her father ...

If stupid was sexy, man am I a lucky guy who will just be really excited all the time ...
