In the old days, one dot-com standardized on windows. I found to be productive I needed to have MKS Toolkit and Hummingbird X to make things really go and sing.

Thousands of dollars every year and then I had to get MSDN for some extra headers .... even then it was holy hot mess, because the only way even with scripting to make it go was to write pure POSIX.

Now ... I actually wrote an awk script for work that I was able to test to compare performance between Apple M1, Apple Intel and Win10 Arm .... pretty neat.
