It is utterly insane the dollar spend for care in this country. The variability is also awful, what irritated me most about the ACA stuff was how horribly backwards the attempt was.
Personally, I would have stated all reproductive care is done through medicare, and everyone signs up for it. Medicare covers basic GP and reproductive care, and this would have removed "all" of the bullshit from the GOP and religious folks.
Then it would have been every zone in the US has to have three providers and to do interstate insurance you need to cover all states "AND" every service is publicly documented.
Then everyone has to have insurance, and it could have been done that if your percentage of "taxes" taken out of income exceeded X dollars in a year or previous year, you were enrolled in the basic.
If you desired more coverage, then you have to sign up, and upon the first emergency hit, you would be required based upon the spend to hold insurance for X years based upon the spend.
But nope ... we got the shit show we have now ...
