That was such a harsh thing for a person to say.
My correction to him would have been:
Obviously you misunderstand the english language, what you call love is "care". Love is not transactional, it isn't wrapped in conditions, and it never ever "shames"
True love has no conditions and is never conditional, but love can have conditions based upon known consented and respected and communicated red lines and hard boundaries.
E.g. A woman can say I love my husband even if he is pro-life and I am in pro-choice, but we agree his love is conditional but still love.
Unconditional love would be the man who was pro-life respect his love of his life and changing his position because her needs come first.
