The blessing for women is that they have a community to talk to about dating and mating woes on average unlike lone wolf men.

The curse is when it comes to intimacy and relationship issues, it is the wrong people to talk too.

The other person IS the person. If married or in a long-ish relationship a therapist can be added for the three dance tango.

If non responsive or if the person refuses to engage, the relationship isn't important. As you astutely stated, if he desires it he will make a move or communicate.

The only caveats I believe in the here and now given the state of masculinity are all the traditional tropes are not the same. Confidence and desire are not as readily apparent in adult males.
