The rule I thought I had made up (must have been due to a drug induced haze in the 1990s) is very very good for this.

1/2 age + 7

So take your 25 year old ... 25 / 2 + 7 = 19.5 (20).

So that means no diving in the high school pond, but what about those star crossed lovers?

19/2+7 = 16.5 so College Freshman can date someone who can drive ... you can do the rest of the math.

Why does it hold up? At some point, one crosses a generational gap and you need to adjust since not everyone matures at the same speed.

Now out side of that bit of a share.

Grooming is disgusting. I am sorry look at the Dane Cook situation? Seriously?

Lets take another couple Alec Baldwin (1958) and Hiliria (1984). She was 27 when they met, and he was 53. 53/2+7 = 33.5, remove the maturity angle? ok .. maybe ...

But he, she stated her body was tired after 6 children. 6 ... smell a power dynamic and some relationship views with this (think about his shooting someone) ... something smells odd but ok.

My view lines up with yours. It is being called out now and folks will say but this is worse then the old days. Um no ... it is just now being seen for what it is . There are no good ole days, there was a lot of abuse, drugs and what not.

E.g. I wonder how pilots in WWII stayed awake .... meth.

So people don't know what wasn't documented or talked too as you exactly called out.

As you know I was abused by a female babysitter, who in turn was probably abused by her father, but no one talked due to traditional and religious upbringing ...
