Working in high tech, I have seen guys like this and I have seen the vaunted fun of sugar babies turned into wives also.
One guy I know actually spent time expat like in Brazil, and brought a wife back. The kicker? It lasted 7 years and then she was done and on to a "richer" guy.
A few other guys who weren't very good with social skills actually kept the wife, but then had the surprise of having to support a large family over in Asia.
One guy that I will always remember would hitch a ride with me to the airport (Georgia at the time). Why I remember it? He gave his wife a check to pay the mortgage and she paid for a dress. I bought the guy a beer or three ... [his wife which followed the pre-sugar baby view was actually an Eagles Cheerleader (early 2000s)
The stories I have heard are long and strong, with guys that struggled with relationships, looks, social skills and graces, and honestly. A lot of them probably would never ever level up even with therapy and work TBH.
Some folks literally don't have it. It is sad in a way, but hey what else would we have to talk about and chuckle from stories in time. Even if they did the work, I don't know how many even non-feminist women would desire some of these guys and they weren't bad at heart.
They were just heavily damaged from our patriarchal constructed society of transactional love and relationships, but never realized it.
My fun share, as I got stuck in Northern Ireland and Germany for several months more then a two week engagement, and my partner (who later came my wife was pissed as hell). It was bad enough I had a meal in a pub with executives where she was screaming into a phone and the VP heard.
Least to say, I nailed the project but the VP felt really bad. How did I get the issue fixed?
He bought (gave me the $$$ on the company dime) to buy a horse. Interesting expense item no?
Now in my life if things went sideways, I do know bring on the American brides who believe in pro-choice and feminism. She makes more then me ... even better :)
But hey ... look at this way, if they go and use their citizenship to get laid and have a relationship, well some woman is saving an American woman by having that insecurity outsourced ... Should it be this way? Fuck no, but what do we expect when our society has done jack-shit for masculinity ...
