You are 100% right ... no one really desires this shit, and no one should live like
tl;dr
I learned about this feeling after our main bladders and pumps went out on our farm in Indiana. A farmer helped us out bringing a thousand gallons of water in a container which I then used by buckets to fill horses in a barn. I also had to cart buckets into the house to flush toilets and to hand wash myself.
I had to do this over 5 days, and I burned through the 1,000 gallons. Once the well was fixed I filled it up for him and had to manage water.
When I had the first shower it was so heavenly. Carrying 10 gallons of water every night to do the basics 200 yards makes one appreciate the basics that most people "don't".
